What is Px Voice?

Px Voice is our first major leap into artificial intelligence and machine learning. It is a suite of tools that we are launching this year to help our customers make sense of free-text analysis. 

It is currently comprised of advanced thematic analysis and sentiment analysis. The analysis maps naturally to the Px3 framework, categorising insights into ‘Think’ (environmental factor), ‘Feel’ (employee felt experiences like ‘belonging’ and ‘Do’ (outcomes such as retention and motivation). 

Later this year we will also be releasing some more modules to Px Voice, meaning as the tool grows our customers will benefit from more insights and opportunities to detect data-driven opportunities. 

By leveraging AI, Px Voice helps organisations make sense of vast amounts of unstructured qualitative data. 

Advanced Thematic analysis

The thematic analysis is advanced because, instead of the usual high-level categories on offer, it is aligned to our Px3 framework. Being aligned to our framework, means our thematic analysis can pinpoint, what part of the perceived environment your employees are mentioning, and what are they expressing against their feelings. 

This difference may seem nuanced, but too often categories such as ‘Engagement’ are being used to describe free text are either undefined (as in there is no defined meaning), or simply too broad (the category encapsulates too many things). 

Our unique approach allows the customer to unpick and understand the complex narratives that are happening with your employees, so you can go beyond the surface and help you make data-driven and people-centric decisions. 

Sentiment analysis:

Sentiment Analysis is one of the oldest NLP techniques. Unfortunately, it has too many drawbacks and could be the subject of an entirely other blog, but the summary is as follows. Ambiguity, context, sarcasm & irony, multiple sentiments, expression Vs emotions, those are some of the pitfalls using sentiment analysis as part of understanding free text. 

For this particular module of the Px Voice, we have redesigned it from the ground up. This means you are no longer getting sentiment analysis based on movie reviews or old twitter datasets. We are creating a machine learning model that designed specifically for free text analysis, more domain-specific, and better at predicting the sentiment of what your employees are trying to tell you. 

Developing our AI solutions in-house:

Taking this approach is only possible with all the research and development that’s been taking place with AI in house. There are various reasons behind this, but the top 3 reasons are: 

  • We wanted to be flexible with our AI solutions, designing our own solutions with our customer’s needs in mind, not just give them vanilla tech products, that are just GPT-style wrappers, or simply do what’s trendy. 
  • As time passes, our products will improve and thus in turn so will the Px Voice platform.
  • AI solutions in our industry tend to not have the bespokeness or domain-knowledge, that we seek to bring to our AI products.

Companies using Px Voice, are getting better and more direct insights, with more tools and improvements scheduled. This is the beginning of something new and industry leading.
